My students need white board markers and felt tip pens to become writers in our classroom. Kindergarteners use a ton of paper to create drawings, art projects, and writing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a two way dual immersion classroom that follows a 90:10 model. The majority of the school day is taught in Spanish with 10% being taught in English. We are a title one school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school has a small population of students and therefore receives little funding for materials and supplies.
My classroom is a fully inclusive classroom with students in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten.
We are a multicultural classroom with a variety of languages spoken in the home but all students come to learn Spanish as a second language.
My Project
The felt tip pens are used during the writer's workshop for students to create their first pieces of writing. These pens allow for students to not concentrate on spelling and prevent students from erasing. The copy paper will ensure that my students have access to paper all year long. Usually by spring semester, my classroom becomes desperate for paper! The white board markers are a much needed tool to use on their personal whiteboards to learn many skills. With these tools, my students will be guaranteed a year full of supplies in our writing center. Our supply room is bare bones with no option for replenishing these much needed materials.
