Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students come from all over the city of Milwaukee and come from a variety of economic and ability backgrounds.

Through our school and the dedication of its founding teachers, the children are learning how to have a voice, communicate with others, and discover the world through literacy. They currently do not have access to books within our school unless teacher's share their own personal books. The children's budding reading skills are ready to bloom!

My Project

The library will be a safe space for children and families to foster their imagination and learn new things! This project is just the beginning by providing bookshelves to store all of our literacy materials. They will be used to make our library beautiful and organized for our children.

Our children deserve a library to learn and explore the world.

They love books already and are learning listening skills through whole group story time. The teachers often buy their own books for the classroom or get books at the library weekly to help children learn more about their interests. We are a school in our 2nd year and we're ready to keep growing with a school library!
