Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you even been asked to edit or proofread your essay? It is hard for an adult to find what is grammatically wrong with one's own writing. Editing is also the hardest skill an elementary student can be asked to do. Writing can be fun but teachers have to make the lessons fun and engaging.

My students are smart, driven, and very verbal.

They are 100% Hispanic. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like lack of food, that others take for granted. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations. In my classroom, they get to dream where the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They would thrive as enthusiastic learners if they are provided with the memories that will last a lifetime. They will experience and recollect their memories in a whole new way.

My Project

My students need pencils, two pencil sharpeners, and a class set of markers. Writing is an essential skill that my students need to learn. With your donations, I will get the materials that will help my students learn the writing process and learn to love it. They struggle with getting their ideas down on paper and thinking of things to write about. These resources will help them tap into their creative side, & publish great stories while learning how to become proficient writers. In order to write a multi-paragraph plot-driven story, they will be exposed to mini-lessons to help them use apostrophes, capitalization, punctuation, & creating descriptive sentences. My students need a good quality pencil that would motivate them to write. The requested supplies will motivate my students to start writing right away. Who doesn't want new pencils, markers, and a brand new electric sharpener! My students usually get thrilled with new supplies that may be basic but necessary to motivate them.

My students have creative minds and just need extra assistance to get it into writing.

Your donations will allow my students to practice the writing skills they need to create great writing pieces and help them become successful as they advance through school and life.
