My math students are a diverse group of 6th graders living in Cleveland. Many students do not have the means to buy basic school supplies.
Despite not having the latest technology to learn basic math facts, my students come to school eager to learn and excited to be in math class.
We discover new ways to model math and discuss how math is relevant to their world. They love hands-on, engaging, and challenging projects. They enjoy working together to solve problems. In our math class students are challenged to find multiple ways to solve math problems.
By working with their peers, students learn different ways to solve problems. These students take great pride in displaying their work.
My Project
My students need pencils, paper, colored pencils markers, and dry erase markers for math class. Students need these simple supplies every day to take math notes, create math foldable and math posters. Having these supplies readily available helps students to work together to share their math ideas.
The number one supply my students ask for each day is a pencil!
And if you need a pencil, you'll need to sharpen it! Students need the basic writing supplies for math class to share their knowledge about math concepts. These supplies help them practice math daily.
