My Students

My students are young members of the Oglala Lakota Nation. Our school is located in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. They are brilliant, kind, and love to laugh. They are passionate about their culture, and they are eager to learn more about their history.

My students are (self-described) go-getters, open-minded, spunky, talkative, goofy (at times), curious, courageous, bold, creative, kind, and brilliant!

They are connected to their culture, and come to school every day to further the knowledge of their people.

My students travel anywhere from 1-60 miles to attend school, and their dedication to succeed inspires me every day. I am eager to provide every opportunity for them, and I know they are ready to take every chance that comes their way.

My Project

My students often do not have the resources to get the materials they need to succeed in school, meaning that the teachers in the school pick up the cost. Paper and pencils are at the top of the list! If my students can't take notes, or have scratch paper, our work and learning will be limited. These materials will give us a great head start to the new year!

I am teaching math with an emphasis in Indigenous Mathematics, as we are a tribal school.

My goal is to get all of my students on grade level, and on track for college readiness!
