Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our second-grade classroom, my students are learning to find their voices in two languages—English and Spanish. They’re writing their first stories, reading with growing confidence, and learning about the world around them in Social Studies. Each day, they show up eager to learn, curious to explore, and ready to work hard.

But many of my students face significant challenges.

As a Title I school, the majority of our families struggle to afford basic school supplies. Items like notebooks, pencils, markers, erasers, and colored pencils—tools that are essential for learning—are often out of reach. Without them, students feel limited and left behind.

This project will provide my students with individual supply kits that include the materials they need to fully participate in our lessons. These supplies will help them write their thoughts clearly, create colorful projects, and stay organized and prepared. More importantly, these tools will give them confidence and a sense of ownership in their learning.

Your support means so much more than markers and notebooks—it means giving a child the chance to fully engage, to feel seen, and to know they matter. It means building a classroom where all children, regardless of their background, have what they need to succeed.

Thank you for considering our classroom. With your help, my second graders can continue to write, read, and dream big—one pencil stroke at a time.
