My Students
I teach in an urban area. All my students receive free lunch. They often lack the basic needs that we take for granted. They come to school hungry and unprepared to learn. Their parents cannot provide them with the basic tools they need to succeed in school. Many of my students, who are only six years old, have already attended two or three schools.
My students come to school curious, wanting to learn and explore in a place that is safe and caring.
I do this by creating an environment that fosters their natural love for learning, a place where they can feel secure and cared about.
My Project
My students' parents do not have the resources to buy the basic supplies their children need to make them successful in school. Students feel empowered when they have their own Markers, crayons, and pencils.
The smile on my six-year-old students' faces when you give them their own pencil to write a story or their own markers and crayons to illustrate a story they wrote is worth a million dollars.
Moreover, as a teacher I spend my resources and money to make sure my classroom and students have the materials they need.
The school district no longer supplies us with basics, like copy paper, chart paper, and wipe-off board markers, that promote my students' educational and personal growth.
