This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 4th-grade classroom is full of bright, curious minds who work hard every single day. For two hours daily, my students dive into learning using computer-based programs like i-Ready, and to stay focused, they need working, comfortable headphones. Unfortunately, many of our headphones break often—and I've been buying replacements out of my own pocket.

Next year, I'll have over 30 students, which means we'll also need a steady supply of pencils to keep up with all the writing, math, and creativity happening in our room.

These are the tools that help my students shine!

I also love building a positive classroom culture with things like our "Secret Student" program. Each day, I secretly observe one student to see if they’re showing kindness, effort, and leadership. If they’ve earned it, we do a fun drum roll to announce the winner—and they get a prize or snack! But keeping those rewards stocked can be tough.
