My Students
My students are in middle school. Although being in middle school can be a challenging time in life, my students enjoy learning and enjoy school. Many of them look at school as a second home at times. Therefore, I want them to have everything they need to be successful in school and in life.
My students are enthusiastic learners who want to succeed in school and in life.
They are students who are very hard workers. Although more than ninety percent of them qualify for free lunch (living below the poverty level), they come to school with great attitudes and a zeal to win.
Despite not having computers, tablets, printers or printer ink at home, my students are using their cell phones to attempt to master online distance learning. The screen sizes of their phones make it very difficult to do and/or show math work so they need other resources to support their learning.
My Project
The notebooks, pencils, pencil sharpeners and pencil cases would be very useful to my students. When doing mathematics, it is very important to have paper and pencils available. In mathematics, it is important to be able to see the process of how to solve each problem. Writing the problems oftentimes helps the students to better understand how to solve the problems.
Since many students are at home, many of them do not have access to the school supplies they need.
Their mathematics books and school supplies are still at school, The students have not been allowed to retrieve them due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the notebooks, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and pencil cases would be much needed assets to aide them in their at home online distance learning.
