This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most resilient, energetic, and inspiring young people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Many of them come from single-parent homes, most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch at our Title I school, and a large number of them have had to endure homelessness. They are also leaders and role models for the younger siblings they help care for while parents are at work.

Regardless of the struggles that they may face, my students still find a way to show up to class smiling every single day, virtually now during distant learning.

They are excited about their future and all of the possibilities that await them; while they are aware it will take a lot of work and dedication to get there. I have never met a more capable group of young people.

My Project

When our students receive their assignments, they usually can go into their desks and get the tools needed to complete their work in a timely manner. But, due to distance learning, our students are unable to have the basic needs to complete their work.

These pencils and pens will allow our students to have a tool readily available to complete their work.

These writing utensils will bring a sense of normal back into our students' lives, a sense our students are striving to embrace. With your support, our students will have a pen and pencil by their side whenever they need it.
