Our students are amazing!! I teach at a school with an extremely high English language learner population. We have 47 languages within my school. Over half of my class is learning English as their second language. Many of our students are refugees who have come out of war driven countries. Meaning that they also come with a lot of post traumatic stress. We also serve a high population of low income and homeless students. It has been extremely gratifying to work with these hard working children!
My Project
Our students already face so many challenges in their lives. This project is aimed to creating a safe and peaceful learning environment for my students. The headphones will be used to help them listen to calming music and lessons, the lighting and diffusers will help set the stage for a calm environment, and the books and activity cards will help me implement calm and mindful activities daily for my students.
Focusing on a peaceful learning environment will help my students as they juggle transitions from at home learning back to the classroom.
Our students have faced unique challenges in their school journey, and I want to create peace in their lives. The materials I have requested will also help promote social-emotional health during distance teaching periods. Thank you so much for considering my project!
