Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Soul Train aired from 1971-to 2016. The TV show started in Chicago and gave emerging Black musicians the opportunity to perform for a national TV audience.
A school-wide unit on the music, culture, and history of Soul Train will cumulate with a giant dance party through the main hallway of the school.
The Soul Train line was always a popular segment of the show: it gave audience members the chance to 'strut' for the TV cameras. Our students will love to participate in their own Line! After studying Soul Train and watching it, they will get a chance to celebrate it with their friends. These Soul Train t-shirts will be awarded to students who earn them dancing in the line! The t-shirts will instill pride and appreciation for Black culture long after the school event concludes.
Soul Train uplifted Black voices and bridged the cultural gap for many during a turbulent time. Soul Train has a lot to teach our students, who are living in the city of Chicago. These Soul Train party supplies will make this school-wide unit an unforgettable celebration. Thanks so much for your support.
