I teach in a very low-income, rural school in Indiana. I teach third grade and children at this age need physical activity.

Our school has very few physical education supplies. I've developed lesson plans to engage the children in activities that provide movement.

This physical education equipment will greatly enhance the curriculum in the gymnasium. With a large ball, my students will play BFG Ball with the large dodgeball after reading the BFG in class. BFG Ball is a game that I would love to play with them, requiring a large ball and following simple volleyball rules. This will enhance the issue of "Team Work" and allow students to develop skills within a volleyball setting. I would like to play scoop ball with them, because I remember playing scoop ball as a child. Scoop ball will encourage gross motor movement and hand-eye coordination. I would like to supply basketballs and teach the skills of the sport of basketball, and I would love the opportunity to play several dodgeball games with my students. We currently don't have any of these items, except a couple of old basketballs and dodgeballs. The dodgeballs aren't even usable, since they have holes in them and chunks of the foam falls off when you touch the ball. The basketballs are impossible, since they have huge knots on them.

With these supplies, my students and all of the students at my elementary school will be given the opportunity to play and learn team sports. I hope for the opportunity to continue to add to these materials.
