Paying It Forward

Help me give my students craft supplies and necessecities to help them be successful in facilitating school wide student led events benefiting our local community !

My Students

My classroom consists of wonderful and talented students. I am a middle school, special education teacher that teaches both general education students, as well as, students with disabilities. Our school is a wonderful learning community, here to serve children of all needs and capabilities. The students in our school are amazing kids who face extreme challenges in and outside of the classroom due to high poverty.

Our school is also a Leader in Me school, where students receive weekly instruction based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

We are a Title I public school located in Staten Island. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We work hard to make our classroom a community and a family away from home. To make this happen, we have a variety of places in our classroom to learn in many different ways.

My Project

The purpose of the Leader in Me program is to teach 21st century leadership and life skills and to create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.

This year we hope to foster strong relationships with our community by having student led activities and events.

Paper edger scissors will be used to make funky designs on various projects

Some pipe cleaners and tulle will be used for arts & crafts projects

Wrapping paper will be used to wrap gifts to be donated through a local organization called “Secret Sandy Claus.” We use post it notes to label the holiday boxes and double sided tape to make it easier to wrap.. We could also use regular tape for more experienced wrappers!

To add a finishing touch we need some gift bows!

We need Kraft white paper roll to wrap our charity collection boxes to attract attention in the hallway so people remember to donate! Rhinestone stickers and pom poms are always fun to use when decorating the boxes

Some packing tape will be helpful for heavy duty projects

We need garment racks to help us organize our clothing drives more efficiently

M&Ms and lollipops will be used for local charity fundraisers

Ribbon will be used when assembling fundraising items

Crinkle cut paper shred filler for our spring egg fundraiser

Treat bags to be used for our various chocolate fundraisers

My students need the masking tape set to organize our class computer cart

Lysol spray & wipes to clean after a project and prevent the spread of germs
