Paying-It-Forward With Kindness Rocks

Help me give my students materials to pay it forward by painting rocks to distribute outside of a hospital.

My Project

A simple rock can bring a smile and joy to those who are undergoing cancer treatment or are at the hospital for other reasons. Smilow Cancer Hospital has an outside healing garden where those who are receiving treatment can walk around and embrace nature while viewing painting rocks with inspirational quotes and pictures. Those who wish to bring those rocks home may, and the rocks are replenished for new homes as needed. Kindness is not something you can “teach” conventionally; it’s engaging in an act such as painting rocks to bring to a hospital where our tiniest humans along with all other ages are receiving life-saving medications such as chemotherapy.

The journals are to reflect on what kindness means and how we can continue to fill our school and community with acts of kindness.

Self-reflection is key when learning life skills!
