This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We need your support to keep our Animal Care Club going strong! Our club is part of the Medical Magnet Program at our Title I school, and we take hands-on learning to a whole new level. Our students care for a variety of classroom pets, including snakes, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds, and lizards, while learning about responsibility, animal behavior, and basic veterinary skills.

Right now, we need essential supplies—bedding, food, habitat upgrades, and cleaning materials—to ensure our animals stay happy and healthy.

These items will directly impact our students' learning by giving them the tools to provide proper care and understand the real-life responsibilities of working with animals. When students interact with and care for these creatures, they develop empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills—qualities that will benefit them in the medical and veterinary fields.

Our goal with this project is to deepen our students' understanding of animal health, nutrition, and wellness while also reinforcing science and medical concepts. These experiences spark curiosity and might even inspire some students to pursue careers as veterinarians, zoologists, or healthcare professionals.

What makes our students special? They are incredibly passionate, hardworking, and eager to learn despite the challenges they face. Many don’t have pets at home, so this club gives them a unique opportunity to experience the joy of caring for animals.
