My Project
My 9th grade students have been studying what makes a great story and have just finished a unit on Social Justice. To complete our trimester together, they are excited to branstorm, draft, edit, illustrate, and publish children's books that teach an appropriate social justice/community lesson to its audience.
To make this experience even more authentic, we have been discussing the need for diverse authors, characters, and experiences in children's literature and students are becoming own voice authors of these stories.
They will share their stories with local elementary schools so that the stories they dream up get into the hands of future generations in our community. We would love these blank hardback books so that students can more professionally publish their completed stories to share with their readers.
