This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These blocks will be used to enhance the play-based learning environment that I strive to create and maintain for my preschoolers. Due to the size of the waffle blocks, they will be used during our guided outdoor learning time. I envision my students developing and strengthening their understanding of math concepts while building with these jumbo-sized waffle blocks.
Math is fun and my preschoolers will continue to learn math concepts through their play.
I envision my students sorting the blocks by color and shape, creating long paths with the waffle blocks, counting as they walk on each waffle, and building a variety of prisms. I imagine the math language that I'll hear throughout their play- color words, number words, names of shapes, and words that tell about length and size.
The mesh bags and cart will be used to move the waffle blocks from our classroom to our outdoor learning area. With your support, these materials will be available for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
