This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a hard-working, lively, bright, and kind group of first and second graders. We learn and work hard every day to achieve our goals and become well-rounded adults. Our school is in the Central Valley of California.

My students come from all different backgrounds and experiences.

They range from English learners who struggle with basic tasks and show large growth to students who are years ahead academically. My students are curious and have a love of learning. They have so many questions about how the world works.

My Project

My students are doing all their learning at home. They love art activities and I want to be able to give them all the opportunities I can to enrich their days and help them to explore as artists.

I want my students to have pastels and paper supplies as they would if they were in the classroom.

Art helps children develop mobility skills, helps them to focus and allows them to explore their own creativity. They also allow students to convey meaning, express emotions, explore colors and so many other valuable skills.

Art development is important for children because it teaches them to be independent and think for themselves.It also teaches the necessary gross motor and fine motor skills students need to be successful in their life.

If students were learning in the classroom, art would be a weekly occurrence. Since students are learning virtually from home, most do not have art supplies. Pastels are also something that is not always found in art kits that could be at home. It would be wonderful to give my students these art supplies at home!
