My Students

My school is in the Moore Public School District in central Oklahoma. I am currently starting my fifth year of teaching and have 25 amazing students I see each day. They come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and have various academic abilities. My students are eager to learn, and nothing holds them back from trying new things. They are eager to learn each day when they enter my classroom, and I do my best to instill knowledge through a variety of methods. They love hands-on activities and work in pairs to solve problems. These students are amazing and deserve to have the tools they need to succeed in their journey of learning.

My Project

I teach 7 and 8 year olds for a living. Children love games so what better way to teach them new concepts and standards than by using games to do so! I could easily give students worksheet after worksheet but does that really help them master the concept? Studies have shown that when students are able to repeatedly do hands-on activities then they master the concept and are able to learn the material. My students love playing games and are constantly asking when they are done with their work if they can play one of the games. They become very in tune with the objective and support each other. When the buzzer goes off for us to clean centers they ask for extra time. When teaching them new material I have found by having it in the form of a game they understand the concept almost instantly.
