(part 2) New Tables: Being on TOP of Our Learning!
My students need new tables for their daily learning! Our current tables are old and broken which causes a huge distraction throughout the day due to the constant shaking and squeaking.

My Students
My students are between the ages of 6 and 7. Though they are young, they act beyond their ages and seem to have missed out on the experiences a young child should have. I can tell that my students wish to just be kids and use their imagination. The students in my class and school are from a poor urban community that is exposed to violence and situations young children should not experience. Our school tries to provide our students with a positive and loving community for their learning experiences. Not only are my students getting an education, they are also learning how to be positive people in the world.
My Project
Here in our first grade classroom, we use tables to work on every day. The tables my students and I have been using are many years old and falling apart. All 3 of our current tables were never good quality, therefore they have not held up to the wear and tear they get each day. Since our classroom is not very big, there are no other places in our room for learning other than the tables.
Having new durable tables would greatly help my students stay focused, instead of being constantly distracted by the loose table legs, squeaking and moving all over the place.
The 3 tables are constantly shaking, squeaking, and moving with every small movement the students make. For 6 and 7 year olds, it is very hard to sit still! Not only are our current tables very distracting, they are also a hazard because they could break at any moment. We would greatly appreciate having this project funded so that we do not have to worry about our tables anymore and just focus on our learning!
