Parallels Software Needed For Macbooks To Also Run Windows

My project needs the ability to have our Macbook laptops run PC programs because we have both Macs and PCs . This amazing software, Parallels, allows us to run both on the same desktop without even the need to reboot the laptops. In a classroom of 5th graders, we need the most flexibility to create student work without worrying if the software will run on the computer. This is the best of both worlds making a computer compatible with the needs of the children. With two Macbook laptops, we need two licensed Parallels software packages.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

New York City Public School 56 Queens is a Title I school with a student body of approximately 70% eligible for free lunch. Our school had the good fortune to be rewired for Internet connectivity and we're fortunate to have computers. The challenge, however, is that we have both PCs and Macs and that means projects saved on one machine won't run or open on the other. It becomes PC vs. Mac -- but no longer! Now there is a new solution! The choice is now ours because Parallels software is a program that allows Apple's Macbooks to run Windows and PC software simultaneously. One doesn't even have to reboot! This is enormously practical in a classroom of fifth grade students who would rather focus on their projects rather than trouble shoot technology and figure out which machines to use. Now the students can use any machine and not worry about if and when it will run on the next available machine that they share in class. Parallels will allow our Macs to run Windows and Mac applications, and it's goodbye to the error message that the program won't run. This is a tremendous contribution to teachers who prefer to use time more efficiently supporting project based learning in lieu of trying to convert and open applications. The flexibility to run Windows or Mac applications is critical to meeting project deadlines. Apple's description says it best: "Now it's easy to run Windows and other compatible operating systems on your Intel-based Mac--simultaneously with Mac OS X. Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac lets you switch back and forth between Mac OS X and full-screen Windows XP with a simple keystroke. Or you can run Windows inside a window right on your Macintosh desktop." It's the best of both worlds making a computer compatible with the needs of the children. In order comply with copyright rules two copies of Parallels software would be wonderful register and install. What an incredible solution. We hope Donors Choose agrees.
