My Project
My name is Christi Drager. I teach Pre-K through 2nd Grade Physical Education. I am hoping to get a new parachute. The one we have is 20+ years old (or more). I am unsure of just how big ours is, but we definitely need a new one very soon. I can fit about 30 or so kids on ours. It has been a joy for several generations! It is made out of actual parachute material and I don’t believe you can still buy one this way that I know of. I’d like to incorporate a new one possibly with our existing one in the future.
Each year we use ours in our 2nd Grade PE program.
It’s a community event where parents, family, and friends watch our 2nd graders do various routines. We pick about 3 different kinds of equipment each year to use in our routines. It depends on the year, but we ALWAYS use the parachute because it’s the highlight of our program. Hula hoops, jump ropes, scarves, drum fit sets, rhythm sticks, and various other props are used. Unfortunately, our well-loved parachute is wearing and we are in need of a new one. Nothing is better than a big ol’ parachute! It brings big smiles and creates happy opportunities for our children to grow and learn TOGETHER.
