At first I thought it would be ridiculous to say that a few reams of paper could help change the world for the better.
My Chemistry students in a high-needs, high-poverty school yearn to do laboratory assignments, and they need paper to do it. They dream of college, trade school, or simply holding down a good job for their families, and we can give them the tools to make such dreams a reality.
This paper represents the raw material for learning, the substrate upon which we can foster the rigorous laboratory exploration that will prepare them for college science and beyond. When my students ask if we are going to finally do "real science" this year, I want to shout, "YES!" to the rafters, but genuine labs written up on this paper speak louder than I ever can.
