This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are very creative, productive, enthusiastic ,and determined learners! They care very much about the quality of their written projects! My students are still working very hard to become more confident and skilled communicators and authors! At first, they were resistant to using the writing process. They felt that one draft was enough and did not want to work on revising, editing, or publishing and sharing their written work.

Recently, students have become authors and have developed more growth mindset around the process of writing.

When using the writing process to create essays, stories, poetry, and other written work, my students are now more excited to write. They use a lot of copy paper drafting, revising, peer editing, illustrating, and publishing their work to share with an audience! My classroom now feels and sounds like a busy publishing company during writers workshop time! Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to purchase enough copy paper to match their new enthusiasm and productivity. Every blank piece of paper for my students is seen as an opportunity to grow as a writer, creator, communicator!
