Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic and very curious. They enjoy school and learning using all their senses. They are all learning English as a second language. My students attend school in the inner-city. The school is nestled among railroad tracks and factories. All of my students qualify for federally funded lunches. They have very limited resources yet are the most generous.
My students are thirsty for knowledge.
They love to feel like scientists. They're fascinated with the life cycle of animals and plants. They are always ready to learn and despite their short comings they always try their very best.
My Project
My students are creative. They need white paper and Astrobrights paper to create flip books for science. These flip books will he help them write down steps in sequential order. They will also use the paper to make notations and to sketch observations. The Astrobright paper will be used to help them make models and posters of their findings. White paper will also be used by students to make scientist notebooks.
These materials will make a difference because they will allow my students to take notes like scientist and journal their observations and findings.
Science from a text book for English Language Learners means nothings without allowing them to go through the process hands-on.
