Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember answering questions from the book all the time? Do problems #1-25 on page 312.
Our school is an urban school with almost 100% of students receiving free lunch.
My students face many challenges as they come from low income families and/or single parent families. Making school fun is important since they require extra motivation to do well in school.
My Project
I am requesting 3 packs of copy paper and 2 packs of colored paper to have fun doing foldables and making their assignments more interesting. My students love doing foldables for classwork and homework. They enjoy being able to draw and present information in a fun way. When I assign foldables for homework, the return rate is much higher; they like doing those more than having homework from a textbook page. The same goes for math- if I give them a handout that has a riddle to solve or art to color as answer key, most students complete it!
I am always trying to find fun activities for my students to do in the classroom, but the lack of supplies limits our efforts.
I want students to have fun while learning and feel motivated to complete assignments that are appealing to them.
