Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This fall students will create personal narratives and publish those narratives in book form. They will read various personal essays from authors like Ocean Vuong and Edwidge Danticat. They will discuss different forms of personal essay writing and learn how to tell their own stories.
Once they’ve written their stories, students will make the paper for their books, use a letter press to print their narratives on the paper, and then bind the paper into books using various book-binding methods.
This course will engage students in all of the steps of publishing using sustainable methods of production. They will then perform a reading from their personal narratives for an audience.
