Math is heavily concept-based subject that requires deep thinking. By fourth grade, some of my students have missed out on some basic math foundations. While technology can help, many math practices need to be pencil-and-paper tasks.
Hands-on strategies and creative practice help students grasp mathematical concepts in a visual or tactile way.
By providing students with multi-purpose materials, such as white board markers, pencils, notecards, and play-doh, they can manipulate numbers and shapes in a variety of ways. Students can strengthen their math skills and take ownership of their learning with versatile materials.
