Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love visiting our literacy center, where they practice reading, writing, and expressing their ideas. I want to transform this space into a vibrant, inviting corner that sparks imagination and supports literacy growth. With better-than-paper bulletin board rolls, colorful borders, and washable paint, our literacy center will become a place where students feel inspired to read, write, and create! Paint isn’t just for art; it’s a powerful tool for building early literacy skills. With washable paint, students can finger-paint letters and sight words, illustrate scenes from books they’ve read, create colorful writing prompts and story maps, and paint word families, rhyming words, and vocabulary visuals.

Pairing paint with reading and writing boosts engagement and helps young learners process information through movement and creativity.

Upgrading our bulletin boards with Better Than Paper and fresh borders means we can showcase student work, anchor charts, and word walls in a bold, organized, and lasting way. The space will not only look exciting, but it will also feel like a place where readers and writers are celebrated! A well-designed literacy center shows students that reading and writing are important and fun! These materials will help us create an environment that encourages exploration, confidence, and expression.
