This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are ready to work but just ran out of paper! It's hard to believe, but that is reality. My students come to school eager to learn but sometime due to budget cuts the basics are missing. Simple things as paper are in limited, yet used everyday and every hour.

My students are energetic and fun-loving.

They are curious and want to come to school with smiles on their face every day, despite their hardships. They live in and attend school in the inner-city. They live in the most modest of ways. They seldom have the opportunity to venture out of their neighborhood, and many, if not all, have never even touched a sandy beach despite living 15 miles away. All of my students live below the poverty line. They all qualify for federally funded lunches. They spend long hours at school and due to gang violence spend most of their free time indoors.

My Project

I am requesting basic copy paper to be able to print various Common Core assignments that students can cut and paste into their spiral notebooks, which I have also requested. It is a great idea to for students to have these Common Core notebooks where they can paste nonfiction articles, make notation, annotate, and answer corresponding questions on the opposite page. This will help them grow as readers and writers. Students will have the opportunity to keep all their resources together and see how they progress towards mastery of the 2nd grade standards.

Basics such as notebooks and paper should be abundant in every classroom no matter the zip code.

Please help my students build their Common Core notebooks. The notebooks and paper will allow endless learning and practice opportunities for all students.
