This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I provide services for children of various grades with speech and language impairments in grades kindergarten through eighth grade in an inner city, public school in New York City. Each one of my students has individual goals ranging from improvements in vocabulary, writing, reading, cognition, stuttering and speech articulation. My students and their families lack resources required for academic, speech and language improvements. I try my best to provide these resources to help them succeed in school and to improve their self-esteem.
My Project
My students need ink and paper to print their individualized assignments and activities. Learning tools and hand-outs are also customized and printed for each child to support their unique learning styles. My students need ink and paper to print practice sheets so they can learn and retain new concepts. My students work hard on their essays and projects, but they do not have printers at home to print out their hard work. By providing my students with ink and paper they will be able to print their work out at school without worry. In a 21st century classroom, printing assignments is required, but it is challenging to do so if you do not have the resources. Let's empower kids, by giving them the resources they need.
