This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first grade teacher, working in an urban high-poverty area of New York. My students have diverse backgrounds and diverse educational needs. But what they all have in common is the beautiful excitement and love they have for learning. Even though many of them come from some tough backgrounds, they still continue to work hard and do all that they can to learn. I truly love what I do and I'm grateful to have such a great community of learners in my class! Every morning I am greeted with 24 huge smiles and I want my students to know that they are important and I will do anything I can to help them reach their fullest potential because they deserve the best.
My Project
Every day my students walk into school with giant smiles on their faces. They are ready for a fun day of learning! In addition to reading, writing, and math, I like to include fun activities to help them incorporate their creativity into their learning. By providing to this project, you will not just be creating readers and writers, but you will be creating artists, and architects. In this community, it is very difficult for my students to buy their own supplies. I do not want this obstacle to get in the way of their love for learning. We love to read and write stories together and turn our imaginations into pictures. This helps us internalize and remember the stories we've read and written. Having supplies such as glue, markers, and construction paper will help our stories come to life.
Additionally, we will be learning about weather and animals in our science units.
These supplies will help us create mobiles, and models to show off how much we have learned by presenting it to others. With your generous donation to support the inner creativity in a child's education, their artistic side can be used in the best way possible! For learning!
