My Students

My first grade students are high energy and high excitement. They are excited about using technology! They love anything to do with using iPads, computers, and Chromebooks. They love working in groups and as a class to solve challenges. Their love of all things technology is inspiring! My students are just a small portion of our very large school of about 900 students, but they know that they are part of our class community and that they each have value and purpose and that they are important. I love to find new and engaging ways to get kids learning.

My Project

Many students come to school with low level critical thinking skills and perseverance. My goal is to get students excited about learning while also giving students the opportunity to persevere through solving difficult tasks.

The items I'm requesting will help each student have their own set of headphones and a wireless mouse that they can use with their chromebook here in class to mitigate spreading germs as well as a writing tablet of their own.

These writing tablets can be used for quick checking their learning and can be erased at the push of a button for quick and easy clean up and transitioning to the next activity.

With the magnetic tiles and sticks I'm hoping that students will be able to have fun while learning to build a growth mindset that will influence them in academics as well. I plan to use the magnetic tiles and sticks as math manipulatives and in our phonics practice to help excite and engage them.

In addition, I am really looking forward to giving my students locks with personalized words or numbers on them that will need to be solved in order to open them. Because of this exciting activity, students learn not to give up because they really want to succeed.

Truly, I want to make learning fun. Right now, so many students have learning gaps, and my goal is to make it fun as we fill in those gaps for students.
