My Project

The Mic Drop assignment closes out the year for my students. My speech and debate students choose one line from a speech they spoke over the season and immortalize it on the walls of our classroom. My journalists take one line from their reporting to commit to the bricks that build our learning space.

This final assignment has become a right of passage and a badge of honor for students.

They take so much pride in their work while reflecting on the incredible journey they have been on in my classroom as speakers and journalists.

I see my role in our school as the adviser of student voice both with our speech and debate students and my student journalists. These bricks are the physical manifestation of that.
