My Project

My Studio Art students love the opportunity to paint anything and everything! This painting project will allow my art students to make connections across subjects of art, math, and science to learn how the beauty of sacred geometry lives in the natural world. By using the coloring and textbook reference materials they will have direct sources on which to base their own sacred mandala designs. In creating their own geometric mandalas students will also need to learn how to practice their craftsmanship in creating symmetrical and radial designs by hand with drawing and painting tools. These tools will be able to be used again for future use by students.

I have witnessed students blossom overnight and gain confidence in the art room after being able to paint for the first time.

It is a difficult decision on deciding which projects to allow my students to paint given we have limited disposable resources every year. When this project is funded my studio art Beginning, Advanced, and Advanced Placement students will be provided with either mini canvases, larger canvas, or be asked to create a larger collaborative mural to paint, given their level of art. I am looking forward to leading this project as it will be a part of a larger showcase demonstrating my students' understanding of the beauty of sacred geometry and its importance in nature and art!
