My students are studying World War I, focusing on the major countries involved, their alliances, and how the war shaped the modern world. As part of this unit, they are each selecting a country that played a key role in WWI—such as the United States, France, Germany, or the Ottoman Empire—and learning about that nation’s involvement, alliances, and impact during the war.
To bring this learning to life, students will create custom t-shirts by painting the flag of their chosen country on the front.
On the back, they’ll include a meaningful fact or symbol that represents that country’s role in the war. This project helps students connect historical facts with visual learning, creativity, and self-expression.
By combining art and history, students are not only deepening their understanding of WWI, but also learning how to present information in a creative and memorable way. These materials will help make that possible.
