Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Located in Center City Charlotte, our lower school campus sits next to the Light Rail, First Ward Park, and University Of Charlotte Center City. This location gives our students walking access to a variety of community resources and allows us to truly meet our vision of using the community as our classroom.
Our students are creative, energetic, out-of-the-box thinkers who are eager to develop solutions to real problems facing their community.
They are inventors, artists, engineers, authors, scientists, and more. Many of our students struggled to find success in more traditional public school environments, so it's especially exciting to see our students' unique talents and passions emerge as they build confidence through real-world, hands-on learning experiences. Put simply, our students are amazing.
My Project
Brrrrrr... it is winter and we are staying warm and busy in the art studio. These supplies are going to be used for projects in January and February. Students are going to be completing projects by painting on black paper and creating model magic sculptures.
We have the most creative students and these supplies will give them an opportunity to experiment and try new techniques.
The paint sticks and neon paint will be used to paint on both black and white paper. Students typically use white paper to create their art. With the addition of black paper and new paints, students will get to experience a new type of art-making.
