This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an incredible group of curious, creative, and kind-hearted 5th graders who light up our classroom with their ideas and imagination. Every day, they show up eager to learn, explore, and express themselves in new ways. Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds and face challenges outside of school, but in our classroom, they find a safe space to grow, dream, and shine. Art has become one of the most powerful outlets for their voices.

This project will bring color, texture, and creativity into our classroom in ways that spark imagination and support hands-on learning.

With materials like air-dry clay, acrylic paint, tissue paper, and construction paper, students will be able to explore both 2D and 3D art projects that connect to our curriculum. The gallon Elmer’s glue, Mod Podge, and bristle brushes will be essential for building sturdy, expressive projects—whether they're sculpting community landmarks, designing science models, or creating personal story collages. The palette trays and poster boards will give students space to experiment, mix colors, and take creative risks in a structured, supportive way.

My goal for this project is to provide my students with the tools they need to dive into art with confidence, curiosity, and joy. These supplies will help create opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, and storytelling—skills that matter far beyond the classroom. What makes my students special is their resilience and passion for learning. They deserve materials that match their energy and help them feel proud of what they create.
