My students need acrylic paint, tempera paint and canvas paper to create artwork throughout the school year.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ammons's classroom raised $358

My Students
Imagine being a student trying to get through the busy school day without a break. Imagine this in a school where everyone is speaking a new language! Art class allows students a break during the day when they can express themselves without worrying about learning differences or language barriers.
The students at our school are Pre-K through 6th grade students.
Many are from refugee families, many are from low income families. At a young age, they already have stories from their lives that would seem unbelievable to many of us. The art room is a safe place for these children to tell their stories. They learn to express themselves and to think creatively in a classroom where many of the lessons have a theme of tolerance, peace and embracing diversity.
Our school, like many, has suffered cuts this year taking 20% of our budget. The art program remains, but our supplies must be funded through the generosity of others.
The students get so excited when they see me put on my smock. I can hear them whisper to each other, "We get to PAINT today!" Although painting is what excites them the most, it is also one of the most expensive supplies to order.
Help our students have a happy school year by donating paint and canvas paper to our talented young artists.
My Project
With the paint you donate, the students will be able to create paintings, paint sculptures or ceramics, and can add paint to collage or mixed media projects. The painting process can be very relaxing and therapeutic, and the lesson themes can span many subjects, helping to reinforce what they learn in their classrooms.
Donating paint to our art program will help some students succeed in areas of talent, and will help all students learn to be creative thinkers.
It will help to keep a much needed art program alive in a school environment where budget cuts are limiting what teachers can do. Giving these students the chance to experience art is a gift that will make an impact in their education and that will allow them to express themselves in ways that are not affected by a language barrier.
