Paint Like Van Gogh

Help me give my students the opportunity to use canvas, pigment and paint brushes to "paint like van Gogh."

My Students

These are students living in a low-income community with limited experience and understanding of Visual Arts activities and are from varying backgrounds. Nonetheless, in my observation, they are thirsty for a direction to new ideas.

These students may be defined by ethnicity and socioeconomic variables but should not be limited to the lack of a creative opportunity in a free public learning environment.

I have come to understand that quite a number of these children either live in foster homes, single-parent homes, or have one parent being incarcerated for varying reasons. This stresses a psychological mishap on their behavior daily when socializing and expressing themselves.

My Project

History hows that Vincent van Gogh is an inspiration to many artists. The selected material will inspire students to be able to use what real artists work with in creating masterpieces.

Students will be inspired to paint like van Gogh, and create similar expressions on their own individual canvas.

Vincent van Gogh wrote many letters to his brother showing inspiring words while painting. "The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting." This project will provide students an opportunity to feel alive when expressing themselves through the Visual Arts.
