Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The books I am requesting will directly impact students' literacy, creativity, and critical thinking. By having access to a diverse selection of reading materials, students will be able to expand their vocabulary, improve their comprehension skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning. These books will also provide them with the resources to explore new ideas, cultures, and concepts, all of which are essential for building well-rounded knowledge and fostering curiosity. The variety of genres and topics will also allow students to find texts that resonate with their interests, making reading an enjoyable and engaging experience that enhances their academic success.
My primary goal is to provide my classes with access to a wide range of books that will enhance their literacy skills and spark a passion for reading.
Specifically, I aim to:
-Foster a positive reading culture within the classroom and beyond.
-Improve students’ reading comprehension, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
-Encourage students to view books as tools for empowerment and education, both inside and outside the classroom.
-Ultimately, I want our students to develop the confidence and curiosity to read independently and grow as learners.
My students are incredibly diverse, each bringing a unique perspective and experience to the classroom. Many come from underrepresented backgrounds, and some face challenges that make access to quality educational resources difficult. Despite these obstacles, our students are resilient, curious, and eager to learn. They are driven to improve their futures, and their creativity and enthusiasm for learning make them exceptional. By providing them with the right tools, such as these books, we believe they can overcome any challenge and reach their full potential. Our students are not just learners; they are future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
