My Project
We are a regional Workforce Development STEAM public school in Northern Kentucky that has adopted a new English curriculum. Our students come to us from ten different feeder high schools, forming a diverse student population with many needs and loads of potential. Students completed an application process to come to our school, and no student was denied based on GPA or test scores. Once they were accepted, students selected a specific "college" of focus that matches their career interest, so students are taking not only the Kentucky core curriculum classes but also career classes to give them experiences that mirror and prepare them for their chosen field. Students are enrolled in one of six colleges: Biomedical, Pre-Nursing, Engineering, Education, Design, or Computer Science. Some of our students can read and comprehend in digital formats, but many of our students prefer a physical book to help with reading comprehension of a longer text.
