This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are enthusiastic learners! Every morning they walk in asking, "What are we going to learn today?" They're so cute, I see them trying to adapt to all the physical and the emotional changes that they are undergoing as they navigate puberty! Think about how you felt as you were experiencing these changes in your own body. Our students love learning about their bodies and about how and why they are changing every day. Can you imagine how happy these girls will be to receive personal hygiene products to make their transition from young children into young ladies much smoother and easier.
As English Language Learners in a dual-language program it is essential to engage students in high interest topics that support both English and Spanish language development.
I have been an elementary teacher in the Bell/Cudahy, CA for 27 years. I would love for my students to have access to personal hygiene items as as a way to motivate them to continue their journey as lifelong learners.
My Project
Will you help provide pre-teen girls at my school with sanitary items to boost their socio-emotional growth and ease them into the changes that come with puberty!
You can make a difference in the way our preteens young ladies are informed about menstruation and how they get a positive and encouraging perspective about their body as they go through puberty.
Female students will receive sample sanitary items when they take the growth and development class at school.
Students will be taught health lessons that focus on their growth and development as they begin going through puberty by reading a book to boys and girls and them passing out sanitary items to female students.
Students will develop confidence in themselves and gain an understanding about their body development.
