Our learners are encouraged to share their worries in the classroom.
Students then develop ideas for improving the classroom environment to support peer mental health and wellness as they share their experiences with the teaching staff. During the previous school year, each student acknowledged the need for further organization and enhanced regularity in their learning environment. Through enhanced classroom organization, students will be given the tools necessary to practice the executive functioning skill of personal organization. This year, we want to build a space in our classroom where students have access to organizational materials, plans, and techniques that are tailored to their individual learning and functional needs. To encourage the growth of a complex lexicon, students will utilize the Brother Ptouch labeler to label their personal items and generate language labels in the classroom. The mesh zipper pouches will allow students to efficiently manage their course materials.
Additionally, before implementing planned systems, students will work collaboratively to choose the organizational method that best meets their learning objectives. This will allow them to strengthen their communication skills. My hope is that students will use the planning, organizing, and filing skills acquired this year both at home and as they advance in their academic careers.
