My students need 3 trombones to continue in a winning band program. In the 2011- 2012 school year our band received 38 1st place solo awards and 7 1st place duet awards!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school band has had a history of success, but now we need help to continue on. Our instruments are nearing 15 years old and need to be replaced. These bright colorful new plastic trombones are just the thing for small younger children to learn with.
The children who perform with our Panther Band are students in grades 3 - 5; 9 - 11 years old.
They are gifted in music, but come from families who are struggling just to provide the bare necessities. Over the last two years the band has received 38 first place awards for solo's and 7 first place awards for duets. Also, the band attended band contest for the last two years receiving a second place trophy. This year we would like to continue with our success.
My Project
The P bone is a new plastic trombone that comes in many bright colors. It is light weight and perfect for the small younger students in beginning band. The beginning band has 30 students in 3rd grade enrolled for the 2012 - 2013 school year. The 3 new trombones will be a wonderful addition to the school band!
Our school band has 94 students enrolled in grades 3, 4 & 5.
The students do not have the funds to purchase their own instruments so our school has purchased the instruments for them; however most of the instruments are now 15 years old. In the 2011 - 2012 school year our band earned 38 first place solos and 7 first place duets at Solo and Ensemble Contest; the band also won a II division at band contest. Please help us continue our history of success.
