Ozobot Coding Craze

Help me give my students Evo Ozobots to develop coding and problem solving skills in the classroom.

My Students

My students are scientists, designers, engineers, artists, coders, and problem solvers. Being able to use their minds in and out of the classroom to accomplish their goals is important.

My students need opportunities to fail so that they can pick themselves up and attain true success.

The diverse nature of my class shows that not all students learn in the same way. Each child brings unique strengths to the classroom. My students are capable of great things but need to be pushed further to reach their full potential.

My Project

Ozobots are mini robots that follow color codes or use Ozoblockly on the computer to make the robots move in different ways. Students need a challenge to make sure that they are stretching their brains. The Ozobots are the perfect solution. The seemingly simple robot needs precise coding to tell it where to go.

The Ozobots allow students to get frustrated, problem solve to find new solutions, and finally reach success through hard work and perseverance.

The students are able to apply the Ozobots to different projects throughout the year. Students are able to use the robots to create intricate scenes and tell stories using the codes to show emotions by coding the robot to shake or turn around. The robots may also be coded to slow down or speed up to help direct the story. We are able to create a multidisciplinary unit study using the Ozobots to create stories or travel distant lands while studying geography. We can also use the Ozobots to study math topics like slope or quadrants. Using the robots seems like playing so the students don't even realize how much they are getting out of their "play time".
