My Students
My students come from all over the county to attend a public charter school. We accept everyone through a lottery and are growing a beautifully diverse student body. Some students have a lot and some have very little, but we are one school family. We have no admission requirements and embrace everyone. Our students and teachers are good and hardworking people. Some of them come from an hour away just to come to our school. That means something to me.
My Project
Learning is easier when you’re having fun. Ozobot Bit is a cute little programmable robot that makes learning fun. There are a variety of uses for the Ozobot Bit robots in the classroom. They can be used for the obvious, helping to teach to coding, but they can also be used help reluctant children retell stories. Many examples of Ozobot Bit story map videos can be found online. The robots can be programmed to travel across a story map. Students can plot a story from the exposition, to the rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution. I could also see these robots being used for the students to teach about events in history, life cycles, pretty much anything that can be presented as a series of events would benefit from this engaging technology. The students create a visual poster showing events or steps, program the robot to travel from event to event, and orally present the information on their poster. This type of work get students excited while eliciting higher order thinking skills. I would really appreciate your help to provide my students with these fun experience.
