My Project
Students need to see themselves reflected in the stories that they read to feel empowered and heard by the world. These books will allow them to see their own reflection on their learning as they become fluent readers of English. Students of color, especially in the past, have often been neglected in literary works but with this project, we can diversify literature and add different experiences and perspectives to our children's views of the world in the classroom. All of the books chosen either have characters of color or have deep social-emotional lessons to come along with the story that matches an overarching theme.
