This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Eager to learn from anyone and anything." That statement most accurately describes this year's class of 5th graders quite well.
I teach a class of 34 fifth graders who have big hearts and an even larger desire to learn.
Many of the students from my school live at or below the poverty line, so their exposure and knowledge of certain things is limited and varied. One of my main goals is to provide them with a rich and challenging curriculum that fosters imagination, creativity, and independence.
My Project
With this assortment of books such as Extra Yarn, Sold!, and Remainder Of One, I'll be focusing on an almost year-long curriculum about owning a growth mindset. I want students to focus on attaining their own individual goals rather than wanting to strive to be the "top of the class". I want them to develop a passion for improving, and by doing so, they'll be more attentive, have better participation, and gain powerful knowledge.
By donating to this project, you'll giving my students several examples of fictional characters who learn from their mistakes, their misfortunes, and/or their experiences and use that knowledge to grow.
My hope is that my students will learn to work toward improvement, not perfection.
